Under Graduate programme in ARTS

  1. General English is compulsory for all.

  2. M.I.L. includes Assamese /Hindi/ Alt. Eng.. Students having major in Assamese will have to opt for two core subjects.

  3. The students will have to mention any two major subjects in preference from Assamese, English, Economics, Political Science, History, Education, Philosophy, Geography, Mathematics and corresponding core subjects from

    (a) Economics (b) Political Science (c) History or Mathematics (d) Philosophy or Education (e) Home Science. Out of the two major subjects preferred by the students one with corresponding core subjects will be allowed on the basis of percentage of marks secured in H.S.Examination. However, it may not be the sole criterion to get admitted to any major subject. It is upto the discretion of the departments concerned. Some of the departments conduct their own admission tests to admit students to their respective major courses and necessary notification is made by them in this regard.

  4. None without the subject Logic & Philosophy in H.S.examination will be allowed to take Philosophy or without the subject Education in H.S. course will be allowed to take Education in degree courses.

  5. If a student fails in a particular subject in H.S., he/she is not allowed to opt for that subject as the major in TDC course.

  6. There will be six Semesters examinations at the end of six months.There shall be a compulsory course on Environmental Studies of 100 marks in Semester III, which shall be evaluated in grades.

  7. There shall be 20% marks for internal assessment and 80% marks for endsemester examination in each course during every semester.

  8. Arts student having major will have to appear for a total of 2400 marks in six semesters distributed over three years. For a students having general course, there will be a total of 2400 marks in six semesters distributed over three years. The syllabus for each course should be divided into modules or units and questions shall be set from each unit and students shall be required to answer questions from each unit.

2. Combination of Subjects without Major : Apart from English and MIL as compulsory subjects, students have to opt for any two from the following options( from 1 to 4)

  1. Mathematics/History/Adv. Assamese/ Adv. Hindi

  2. Education/ Philosophy/Statistics/ Anthropology/ Geography/ Comp. Science/ Home Science

  3. Political Science/ Statistics/ Home Science

  4. Economics/ Anthropology/ Home Science


    Number of seats in BA 1st Year: 390(2% seats reserved for Extra Curricular Activities Quota. The college reserves the right to grant or deny admission to any student in this category.)
